Re: Satellite client registration error

Does any one know rhnreg_ks requires any specific port need to be opened?

# /usr/sbin/rhnreg_ks --profilename adedld86p.x.y.com --activationkey xxxxxx05a86e87608a1390xxxxxx --force
An error has occurred:

Re: Satellite client registration error

I have got very limited knowledge about this topic, as you will see later in my post. :)

As far as I know the default port used by the Red Hat Update Agent is 443 for SSL (HTTPS) and 80 for non-SSL (HTTP).

1. Try changing the protocol from https to http in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date, and see if connection goes through successfully.

2. Try "/usr/bin/rhn_register --configure" to check for the proxy settings.

There is one kb article I found:

Re: Satellite client registration error

It got registered after overwriting /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date and /etc/sysconfig/rhn/rhn_register with the same files from an already registered server.
