Sendmail relay problem.

Hi,

I configured linux sendmail with Trendmicro IMSS for spam scanning. i need to configure like

1. when sending mail to other domain its, relay via IMSS and imss will scan & forward the mail to outside domain. same way when mail coming from outside domain IMSS will scan and after that it will deliver the mail to the linux Box.

This is working fine.

My problem is when i am sending mail to the local domain its delivered locally without going to the IMSS. i need the mails between local domain also come via IMSS.

This is my configuration .

# sendmail.mc

define(`SMART_HOST', `imss.example.com')dnl
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl

#cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.1.1 mail.example.com mail
192.168.1.2 imss.example.com

# cat access
Connect:127.0.0.1 RELAY
Connect:192.168.1 RELAY

How to pass the local mails to the IMSS.

I need help to solve this.

Re: Sendmail relay problem.

Myabe I'm wrong, but I thinkg that this won't be possible unless you configure your SMTP server to be imss.example.com at your clients.

The problem is that in mail.example.com, you must define in local-host-names your domain name. In that case, mails arriving will be considered to be delivered locally.

So, if you don't put your domain in local-host-names, mails will be forwarded to the relay, then the relay back to you, but you will never know the you should accept this mail as destined to your host, and you will send it back to the relay, creating a mail loop.
