Solution
It's always a good idea to check sendmail.org for known bugs; yours is listed there:
timeout waiting for input from local during Draining Input
Make sure that the program does not generate output beyond a
status message (corresponding to the exit status). This may
require a wrapper around the actual program to redirect output
to /dev/null.
Such a problem has been reported for bulk_mailer.
timeout waiting for input from local during Draining Input

require a wrapper around the actual program to redirect output
to /dev/null.
Such a problem has been reported for bulk_mailer.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Sendmail timeout msg during draining input ??
Shalom Maria,
As I recall from the past some of your systems are exposed to the Internet.
From experience the message indicates that an inbound sendmail connection was initiated but time out before being complete.
This could indicate a malliciouis user or spammer is probing your system.
