Re: Server crash hpux 11.11 --urgent help
Have you patched the system, or made any other configuration changes since the last time the server was booted successfully?
Have you tried booting the system with the previous kernel configuration (vmunix.prev)? If that is successful, then something may have gone wrong in your last kernel configuration change.

Re: Server crash hpux 11.11 --urgent help
Current kernel is definitely hosed.
Booting off alternate kernel is the only quick way to bring your system up.

Re: Server crash hpux 11.11 --urgent help
-What was the uptime before it crashed,
-If there was a previous crash, if yes did you check in /var/adm/crash/ when the system was up.
- what is the output of /etc/shutdownlog (If previously taken) .
- What is the previous /etc/rc.log says for atdd driver. (was it loaded successfully.)
- Try following:
Initialize loadable modules ................................................. atdd
At this time quickly press "Ctrl+Alt+| " to bypass the driver, hope fully the system will bootup.
- The driver can be bypass by renaming the /sbin/rcx.d/Sxxatdd (something like that) file to ZZxxatdd , so it won't load next time.
Hth,
Raj.

Re: Server crash hpux 11.11 --urgent help
Have you changed anything on the server before it behaved wrong? Any SW or HW install?
Did it crashed or have you just restarted the system? If unsure take a look into /etc/shutdownlog
Unix operates with beer.
