Hi All,

Am contemplating using the above new product. Has anyone had the opportunity to test functionality and ease of use. I have about 13 servers to manage K,L,N Class
running HP-UX 11.00 and never enough time to perfect the art if you know what I mean.

Is the Service Control Manager already released? I heard it should be available on the web but haven't found it.

Hi Patrick,

The product is free and can be downloaded from http://software.hp.com/scmgr/index.html. From this site, you can download B8337BA
version A.02.00. I think you can get the agent software from this download as well.
Check out the patch requirements, there are a number of them which require reboots.
The product looks promising none the less.
It is also included in the HP-UX Application Release June 2000.

The latest version of HP Professional magazine has a feature column in it written by Fred Mallet (who else?) about Service Control Manager. He lists pros and cons and features of the product. And above all, he mentions that its FREE.
