Should 12G swap be good enough on a hpux11iv3 and 64G memory?
I know 12G space is a little bit of too small in theory for 64G memory on a RX4640&HPUX 11iv3 server.
However, the application running on the server would not use that much of memory at all, I'd say the memory utilization could be only about 15%, and the possiblity to swap out is very small.
I really don't have much physicall space, since I need to get this server running as soon as possible. I only have 2x146G disks.
So, under these circumstances, is 12G should be good enough?
Thanks for your input!

Well, if you have 64 G of RAM, you may not need any swap at all. :-)
Basically what does "swapinfo -tam" show when the application is running?
And do you plan to add more of a load later?

Re: Should 12G swap be good enough on a 11.31 and 64G memory?
This is a new built server, and the application has not been installed on, so swapinfo could not tell much yet. Based on swapinfo -tam on the ohter server, with 8G memory, running on the same app, the memory util is about 70%, and swapinfo -tam is following:
swapinfo -tam
Mb Mb Mb PCT START/ Mb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 12288 11 12277 0% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
reserve - 3721 -3721
memory 7767 2926 4841 38%
total 20055 6658 13397 33% - 0 -

It appears to be only using 6.6 G. So 64 G should be plenty, unless you want to run even more applications.
