Probably filecache_max is still configured to the default value of 50%, which means if possible up to 50% of your memory are used for that until the system needs more memory and filecache will use a lower amount down to filecache_min.

Hi Sap required it to be set as follows

filecache_max=8%
filecache_min=5%

Hi, it has a little bit of looking in a crystal ball, without any information what's going on with that machine pretty no one will be able to give you a usefull answer.

All information you gave is a memory report, now as addition sap is running on the box.

So my next wild guess, oracle is running as well and usually configured to use as much memory as available.

As long the system does not show any kind of memory pressure and is paging it can have 99% memoryload 24/7 without being concerned about it.

best,

Re: Should i be concerned that my free physical memory is so low ?

Hi Stephen where did you get your crystall ball from?

Yes it is running oracle as well. It is a second node of a cluster that will have sap fail to it if the sap node fails. It will also have Cahe fail to it as well.

So i need to make sure that it will be able to handle it all in the event of a failure.

Re: Should i be concerned that my free physical memory is so low ?

hi again,
the have a pretty nice collection at http://www.whitemagic.com.au/cryballs.htm

If i get it right a second oracle instance starts in case of the package switch?

If yes, ask the oracle guys how much memory they have configured on startup.

This amount + what you need for the application must be free to ensure both packages will running fine. Another point are the cpu's if they deliver enough sap's to feed both packages, otherwise your performance will go down.
