Slow output from ls and bdf command

Hi
I have a two nodes RAC CFS Cluster ,
the nodes are RX servers
when i lunch the command ls or ls -ltr also bdf , it take about 1 to 3 minutes to give the output ,
this problem is temporary , after waiting the 3 minutes time and have the output , the second time the output of ls command is immediate
what could cause this problem ?

Re: Slow output from ls and bdf command

are you seeing the error only on CFS filesystems or for all filesystems?

does "bdf -ls" come back quicker?

Re: Slow output from ls and bdf command

Hi
the hanging is going on on the mounted file systems and not on the local)

for the ls command it hangs on the SAN file system (shared CFS file system )

Sounds a lot like a SAN communications problem. This could be caused by many things. I would guess, as it is intermittant, that it could be caused by the amount of traffic using the disks/network at any one time. Have you got more than one path to the san and have these been load balanced properly.

Do an ioscan -fnC disk and make sure all the paths are active (CLAIMED) and none are stating NO_HW, which means they have lost connectivity.
