Softek TDMF -Data Migration Procedure

Hi ALl!

Can you advice the steps on doing Storage migration using SOFTEK TDMF on HPUX?

Procedure and also process.

We use the DMM (Data Migration Manager) from Brocade, which should be similar to IBM SOFTEK TDFM (Transparent Data Migration Facility). We use it in offline mode: the cluster and it's nodes will be taken down, after that the storage technician pulls off all the FC cables and attach the DMM between the two storage boxes. During the copying of the luns we patch the servers, and do all the tasks which would require a downtime, e.g. iotree reorganisation.

Before the change a list of current luns should be generated, and the storage team generates the list of the new luns from the new storage.

PS: the list at the above link is focused mainly on the sysadmin's tasks as I am from the admin team.
