Storageworks VA7410 monitored via EMS
Hi,
I have L3000 servers with StorageWorks VA7410. Is it possibile to configure EMS in order to have disk issue logged into the event log?
For example I have this printouts with armdsp -a command:
...
...
JA0/D7 Disk 3JA6NVNW Good
JA0/D8 Disk 3JA6PE46 Unsupported
JA0/D9 Disk 3JA6NRE0 Good
...
...
and
...
...
M/D7 Disk 3JA6LS0K Good
M/D8 Disk Init Failed
M/D9 Disk 3JA6KAH6 Good
...
...
but nothing releated to Init Failed or Unsopported staus into the event log. Which monitor i have to configure into EMS?
Thanks a lot
Luca

Re: Storageworks VA7410 monitored via EMS
what I mean is that I have already configured the following monitors:
XXXXXXXX:/root #ps -ef | grep monitor
root 2416 1 0 Mar 17 ? 3:53 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/sysstat_em
root 2320 1 0 Mar 17 ? 58:57 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/ia64_corehw
root 2032 1 0 Mar 17 ? 0:45 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_TL_adapter
root 2010 1 3 Mar 17 ? 34:17 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/disk_em
root 2356 1 0 Mar 17 ? 82:54 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/lpmc_em
root 2014 1 0 Mar 17 ? 0:24 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_FCMS_adapter
root 2044 1 0 Mar 17 ? 66:08 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_core_hw
root 2104 1 0 Mar 17 ? 0:21 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_memory
root 2173 1 0 Mar 17 ? 13:01 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/dm_stape
root 2250 1 0 Mar 17 ? 3:35 /usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/tools/monitor/fpl_em
but no messages for VA7410 HD failure has been written into the event.log.
What i should do?
Thanks a lot

Re: Storageworks VA7410 monitored via EMS
thanks for you reply but unfortunately I need a way to configure EMS in order to have messages into the "event.log" file as SERIOUS or CRITICAL any time a problem occurred to a VA7410 disk. Below the list of all monitors enabled:
Monitors to which this configuration can apply:
1) /StorageAreaNetwork/events/SAN_Monitor
2) /storage/events/disk_arrays/AutoRAID
3) /storage/events/disks/default
4) /adapters/events/FC_adapter
5) /adapters/events/TL_adapter
6) /system/events/chassis
7) /system/events/core_hw
8) /connectivity/events/hubs/FC_hub
9) /connectivity/events/multiplexors/FC_SCSI_mux
10) /connectivity/events/switches/FC_switch
11) /adapters/events/iscsi_adapter
12) /system/events/memory
13) /adapters/events/ql_adapter
14) /adapters/events/raid_adapter
15) /storage/events/enclosures/ses_enclosure
16) /storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape
17) /system/events/ups
18) /storage/events/disk_arrays/FC60
19) /system/events/ipmi_fpl
20) /storage/events/disk_arrays/FW_SCSI
21) /storage/events/disk_arrays/High_Availability
22) /system/events/ia64_corehw
23) /system/events/cpu/lpmc
24) /storage/events/disk_arrays/MSA1000
25) /adapters/events/scsi123_em
26) /system/events/system_status
Enter monitor numbers separated by commas
{or (A)ll monitors, (Q)uit, (H)elp} [a] A
Even if all the monitors are enabled no entry has written in the var/opt/resmon/log/event.log file for those hard disk into the VA7410 with problems but only messages releated to TL_adapter.
Why?
Is it possible or not to configure this kind of monitoring?
thanks a lot for your help
