Subject: How to find out HP-UX Version Information

I am trying to install patches on Tru64 Version 5.1 Rev 2650 however I have patches for 5.1B2 and 5.1B3 I want to know how to find this out. Sizer does not give me anything beyond Tru64 Version 5.1 Rev 2650.

Please help!!

sizer will give you the version, versions cluld be:

5.1
5.1A
5.1B

5.1B-2 or 5.1B-3 depends of the patch kit level that you have installed. If you have PK5 installed then you are in 5.1B-3.

In your case, you must find patches for 5.1.

If you are getting a output like this:
# sizer -v
Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650)

Then, you are running the V5.1B version of the OS.

Also,
5.1B2 = 5.1B with Patch Kit version 4
5.1B3 = 5.1B with Patch Kit version 5 (this is the latest one as of today).

The hyphenated versions (like V5.1B-3) appear
to be strictly marketing names, and I've not
seen a simple way to get that string from the
OS itself.

With the current intensity of Tru64
development, I'd be a little amazed if the
real version string ever rises above "V5.1B".
I've been amazed before, of course, but for a
clue, count the Tru64 systems at:

Around here:

urtx# sizer -v
Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650); Sat Jan 28 11:47:04 CST 2006

which says "V5.1B", not "5.1". (And nowhere
does it say "HP-UX".) Actual program output,
accurately quoted, can help get you better
answers, too.
