Swap memory 100%

Hi Everyone,

I am using HP UX 11i v3 on rx6600. Until recently i found out this in my seerver hence the whole database hangs and even after restarting the memory usage increases to 100% in no time.

kindly suggest... as i am not able to login and startup my database

Basically you don't have enough memory, your device swap is 3X your memory.

You may also be configuring your SGA too large.

Also, what are your filecache_max & filecache_min kernel parms?

Your system may crash if no more swap space is available; As urgent add temporarily filesystem swap, which less attractive (slow) than Device swap but as quick fix should help and later add device swap. The question remains what process(es) using that much of swap! need investigate you applications and checl syslogs and oldsyslogs.. make sure you applications meet Software Requirements.

Primary observation, he suggetion is to increase the system memory!!!.


When you started facing this issue? Was this system running smoothly before?
