Re: Syslog file generated ERROR messages
HI aamir uddin:
# /sbin/init.d/cim_server stop
# grep cimserver /var/adm/syslog/sylog/syslog.log
Sample output:
Dec 2 14:06:04 minerva cimserver[2324]: PGS10031: CIM server HP-UX WBEM Services stopped.
Dec 2 14:06:05 minerva cimserver[2323]: exited normally
# cd /etc
#cp -p inittab inittab.old
Edit inittab file and comment the line:
# cim1:3456:respawn:/opt/wbem/lbin/cimserverd
# init q
# ps -ef |grep -i cimserver| grep -v grep
If some "cimserverd" is running:
# kill -9 pid
# cp -p /etc/inittab.old /etc/init.d
# iniq -q
/sbin/init.d/cim_server start
Verify /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file.

What are you trying to do? Why is someone stopping cimserver? Is this what you want to do?
If you look at the documentation for cimserver(1m) and cimserverd(1m) you see that they have belts and suspenders to make sure it keeps running. cimserverd will restart cimserver. And init will restart cimserverd if that's not running.
rariasn mentions what you need to do to stop them.

If you aren't intentionally stopping cimserver then something seems wrong.
I do see several PIDs for each cimserver start/exit block but I assumed that's ok and really the same "one".

If it needs it, I would sure hope an error message saying that would be in syslog.
