System booted in middle of qp patch upgrade on 11.23

Today I am upgrading patches on two Servers that are RAC with Oracle. I had problems in the past and I usuall boot into init 2. But today I forgot.

In the middled of installing the RAC must have triggered a reboot. now I have Dec. 2008 and Dec. 2007 at that same time.

swconfing /* found lots of errors and told me to issue a command for more detail. vi is not working now, but tail shows

# tail jwjob.txt
Verified utilProvider.UTIL-RUN,l=/,r=A.01.00
ERROR: 184 of 3000 filesets had Errors.
WARNING: 8 of 3000 filesets had Warnings.
* 2808 of 3000 filesets had no Errors or Warnings.
ERROR: The Analysis Phase had errors and warnings. See the above
output for details.

I was going to boot into init2 and restart the installation, but I wanted to get some feed back first. Anyone out there this Satruday?

Shalom,

Yes there are people here on Saturday.

This situation has several outcomes.

1) If you did an Ignite make_tape_recovery or make_net_recovery prior to the patch install, restore it. The reason is the patch SD-UX database is now a gigantic mess.

2) If you have no backup, you may try to swremove the patches that are corrupt. This may or may not work. It could be a long and frustrating process.

3) Your plan may not work, but it does not hurt to try.

Re: System booted in middle of qp patch upgrade on 11.23

I do not have an Ignite. I do not have local tape drives. I was doing them on a fiber tape library a while back but discovered that I cannot restore off that. I was hesitant in working on Production servers to create an ignite server. I have a new server that is not on production. And I was waiting for a test server that just came on line. But unfortunatley, I am barley getting that on the SAN so it is not set up yet.

I have a backup of /stand from last night, but I guess hp mentioned that would not do.

Any other ideas? I have been here since 5 this morning, An electrician was here roday and power went out. We just came back up, but the HP engineer I was working with is off shift.

No one from the new shift has returned my call yet. The engineer that I was working with, has a plan, but it is not guaranteed. I am confused on one of the steps, so if the next shift cannot interpit, I might wait until he comes back on.

I talked to a great engineer from Australia later Saturday night. and with some instructions left by a great Engineer here in the U.S. we were able to resolve patch issues one at a time. whewww... I am close to getting the Server that will be on test for a while on the SAN. I am making that top priority to becoming the ignite server, before continuing patching.
