System clock faster than standard time
One customer uses Alpha ES40 as their product system. Now this server's time is faster than standard time. They have not used NTP yet. Its about 2 seconds faster every hour than standard. We have replaced the PCI battery, problem are still there.
From where we can find the description of system time. What is the permitted scope of system time change. Is there any official doc about the permitted scope of system time change.
Thanks!

Re: System clock faster than standard time
Is this a cluster?. How did you infer about the time difference?

Re: System clock faster than standard time
I know of no document or committment that specifies an allowable variance in time keeping attributes of the hardware.
Customers with precise timekeeping requirements are encouraged to use NTP. For systems without network access, there may also be some third party I/O devices with precise timekeeping abilities (satellite or GPS clocks, etc).
