TOC'ing an nPar that hosts a vPAR - Where will Crash Dump be stored?

I have an nPar with 4 vPars - vParA to vParD.
The nPar boot's VPMON from vParA's boot disk.

If I intentionally do a TC and hoe a crash dump is generated - where will the crash dump occur?

a) on vParA
b) on all vPars
c) Boot nPar in nPar mode using vParA's bootdisk and Crash Dump wil be on said env.

Thanks.

Re: TOC'ing an nPar that hosts a vPAR - Where will Crash Dump be stored?

I'm not sure, but why not do a TOC on only a certain vPar?

Hope this helps!

Re: TOC'ing an nPar that hosts a vPAR - Where will Crash Dump be stored?

T,

Coz we've all of a suddenhad 2 episodes of an rp8420 - single nPar, 4 vPars - just hanging/freezing and not crashing.

This coincided when days before, EMS/DIAGS alerted us of very high SBE Errors.

Our HW support vendor insists those SBE Memoery eros are not the issue in the hangs -- that it should be an OS/Software issue. We've differnt HW and SW support vendors.

Thanks.

Re: TOC'ing an nPar that hosts a vPAR - Where will Crash Dump be stored?

From the manual:

"When there is a HPMC orMCA or when a TOC is issued, the virtual partitions are launched for
crash processing. On PA-RISC, this occurs after saving the vParsMonitor dump, and on Integrity,
this occurs before saving the vPars Monitor dump."

Chapter 10
10 Crash Processing and Recovery

Hope this helps!

T,

But the TOC -- it does not say if it is a GSP/MP initiated TOC or via "vparreset -t"

In our case -- it is a TOC issued from GSP/MP as all vPars are hung and we can't do a "vparreset -t".

It's a "real" TOC - RTFM ... ;-)

Hope this helps!
