Tape Drive always showing Write Protected

Hi Experts

We are taking Os backup dailly using make_tape_recovery

When we load dailly OS backup Tape ,it always showing write protected ,but actually its not .

Once we clean and reinsert the tape ,then its showing Normal

$ mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn status
Drive:  HP DAT160
Format:
Status: [45114800] BOT write-protected online compression immediate-report-mode
File:   0
Block:  0

Its not a media Problem ,may be its Drive Error?

Thanks & Regards

Re: Tape Drive always showing Write Protected

It is likely a drive problem. The write protect tab position is sensed in the drive and a possible misalignment has occurred with this sensor.
