Tape won't eject in COMPAQ 110/220 GB SDLT

Hi,

We have a problem with our tape drive this morning. The tape will not eject - the middle green light is on, but the drive does not seem to respond to the eject button.

Our backup log gave the following messages:

If this is an external tape device, try turn it off and turn it on again. If you cannot eject the tape, you should call to hardware technical support.

Is it safe to do this while the attached servers are running?

We use to do that and we have no problems.

Use a cleaning tape after that and replace the tape cartridge.

Thanks Ivan - we were able to get the tape out after power cycling while the servers were running.
