Trouble with utild
We have several HP-UX servers. On one rx8620, 16 single core CPUs, running 11.23, used as a Data Protector Cell, I see utild running 100% CPU as reported by top, when total idle CPU is 93%. I killed (-9) the utild process, inittab restarted it, and it was low CPU for a while. Now some 6 hours later, it is back to 100% CPU, using all of 1 CPU.
I have looked at other HP-UX servers, both 11.23 and 11.32, and utild does not run more than 1% as reported by top. None of these others servers have more than 8 CPUs.
Is this some strange side effect of 16 CPUs?
If not, how can I figure out what might be causing this strange behavour?
Snipits from top:
Load averages: 0.10, 0.09, 0.09
