Tru64 command for disk recongnizing in a disk array

Hi All
Our system Alpha ES40 with running tru64 unix. Also it has been attached MA8000 disk shelves. There is a failed disk in a mirror set. Now I need to recognize good disk in that mirror set using a Tyr64 command.

Anybody knows any command in tyr64 to identify disk in disk array.

The mirror is done via LSM or via hardware?

├В┬┐What is your tru64 version? ├В┬┐4 or 5?
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Tru64 command for disk recongnizing in a disk array

If mirror is done via hardware, you need an utility to check the status of the devices.

Re: Tru64 command for disk recongnizing in a disk array

To physically locate the disk you can use
hwmgr -flash light
and remove/replace the failed disk.
-------------
-flash light
Use this option to flash the display light (LED) on a SCSI disk device
for a default time period of 30 seconds. Note that this operation may
not work on all devices, and you may have to open a cover to access the
light on some systems, particularly where the disk is installed in an
internal bay.

-dsf device-special-filename
Specifies a device by its special filename such as /dev/disk/dsk4.

-bus scsi-bus
Specifies the device(s) on the given SCSI bus number.

-target scsi-target
Specifies the device(s) at the given SCSI target number.

-lun scsi-lun
Specifies the device at the given logical unit number.

-seconds N
Specifies a duration of N seconds for the light to flash. The
default is 30.

-nopause
Specifies no pauses between flashes.
--------------

Hope this help,

Re: Tru64 command for disk recongnizing in a disk array

To locate individual disk
bring the system down to SRM console
give "show config" & check the name of the controler. & go to the configuration program for the controller by giving run command.
When working on a raidset or on a individual disk the respective disk LED's will blinks.

thru OS, as kapil told thru "hwmgr" with "flash" is the best option to locate disk.

Re: Tru64 command for disk recongnizing in a disk array

if mirror is done by msa/hsg80 you may try hszterm to connect to the controller
or connect a serial terminal (emulator) to this controller.
from there use
show mirrorsets
show storagesets
show failedset
to locate the components
