Tru64 license issue

Hi,

We have server Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650), which not allowing any ssh/telnet as the OSF-USR license got expired. Now we don't have the hard-copy of the license too.


Details from server:-
# lmf list | egrep 'OSF-USR|Product'

OSF-USR isn't the problem. You have the four-user implicit OSF-USR license there, and it's active with no termination date. You may have some other license causing the problem, though, such as OSF-BASE or OSF-SVR. Can you post the "lmf list full for" info for those two licenses?

Also, what's the actual error that's causing you to suspect a license problem?

We are getting these error on telnet sessions only for non root users.

# telnet localhost

where all remaining gone ?? OSF-BASE & OSF-SVR ....

OSF-USR is enough or not ??

You get this error message in case you dont have enough OSF-BASE license
units for your system. To start, check what is the OSF-BASE requirements
of the system, how may CPU are there and how many you require per CPU.

In your case, looks like the OSF-BASE license itself is not there.
Hence, you need to find a means of getting that license first.

what you suggest ??


i am new-born baby in tru64 administration, so my questions may be very childish

Yes, if you have the paper license PAK for OSF-BASE, you can run "lmf register" and input the data.

Another question: did this ever work, or is it a new system you're setting up? If it worked before and you have a backup of /var from that time, you can restore the license database to its previous (working) state. Simply restore file /var/adm/lmf/ldb from your backup and then run "lmf reset".
