Re: Tru64 license issue

Hi Prasanth,

Something that I've seen happen recently with an AlphaServer 1200, is that for some reason the machine changed personality - we think due to a system board fault. Consequently Tru64 thought it was running on an Digital Server 6000 which required more OSF-BASE units than were loaded.

That said, from your description it does sound as though the licenses have been removed from the lmf database.

In order to install a license you do need to have the checksum and all of the details off the PAK.

Copying a license from another machine might work, but bear in mind that the OSF-BASE license requirements vary between different machine types.

Cheers,

Rob

Re: Tru64 license issue

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the replay. currently "lmf list" shows only OSF-USR.

# lmf list
Product Status Users: Total Active

OSF-USR active 4 0
#

pls suggest what are other licenses i have to install on this box, to resolve this issue.

Thanks
Prasanth

Re: Tru64 license issue

Hi,

As a minimum you'll need OSF-BASE with enough license units for your machine, and OSF-USR.

Details of the number of units required can be found here:

If you go into lmf, does the history command give you any hints as to what's happened to the licenses ?

# lmf
lmf> history short

Cheers,

Re: Tru64 license issue

Hi Prashanth,

The current problem is due to non existance of the OSF-BASE license.
This you would need as a minimum.
You may then have to also get other licenses that are currently missing
from your LMF database.
