Re: Tye data

I need install the type drive in HP-ux. I found the doc that help the i configure.
i checked in this step:

/usr/sbin/kmsystem -S /stand/build/system -c Y driver-name

In DRIVER-NAME, i use any name, has to be specific to type:
ex:

/usr/sbin/kmsystem -S /stand/build/system -c Y HPXXXXX

Re: Tye data

It appears you are talking about a DDS TAPE drive.

If that is the case, then you need to install the tape2 and/or stape drivers.

Re: Tye data

This is a DDS1 drive - must be around 15 years old...

Normally the tape drivers are claimed by "stape" driver, so install the module

# kcmodule stape=static
NOTE: The configuration being loaded contains the following change(s)
that cannot be applied immediately and which will be held for
the next boot:
-- The configuration is supposed to include a module 'stape' which
is not available without a kernel rebuild.
WARNING: The automatic 'backup' configuration currently contains the
configuration that was in use before the last reboot of this
system.
==> Do you wish to update it to contain the current configuration
before making the requested change? y
* The automatic 'backup' configuration has been updated.
* Building a new kernel for configuration 'nextboot'...
* Adding version information to new kernel...
* The requested changes have been saved, and will take effect at
next boot.
Module State Cause
stape (now) unused
(next boot) static explicit
#

... but somehow I doubt this will work.

What server model do you have?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Tye data

With HP-UX 11.0, just use sam > kernel config and add the stape driver, generate a new kernel and reboot. Then run "ioscan -fnCtape" and your drives should appear.
