Re: USB thumb drive on HP-UX 11.i
Its really the responsibility of the vendors to decide to support the platform.
IT is possible, if you have skills and patience to take say Linux drivers and try to port them to HP-UX yourself.

Re: USB thumb drive on HP-UX 11.i
Hmm, beg to differ.
Thumb-drives / Jump-drives / USB-sticks and the likes have (IMHO) proven to be very handy file interchange media.
Nothing to do with 'taking on' Microsoft, just adding value, flexibilty to hpux. Make it follow the market a little bit.

Again, beg to differ. HPUX could/should do a generic USB mass-storage interface with basic FAT support. Solve once for hundreds of usages. Woudl it not be neat to be able to suck empty you camera (in USB mass storage mode). Or hook up a portable 100+ GB drive? Or indeed the memory stick as requested?
Seems like a perfectly reasonable reqeust to me.
Just an opinion,
Hein.

Re: USB thumb drive on HP-UX 11.i
Seriously, that's not sarcasm--I wonder how many? From what I've seen, there are very few end-users left who have physical access to an HP-UX box. Even the old engineering areas where I used to work don't do HP-UX any more--they use Windows now. I just don't have contact any more with people using HP-UX outside the datacenter.

Re: USB thumb drive on HP-UX 11.i
More to my point, I see that his thread is a little old, so my real point is to find out if anyone has solved this problem? Would anyone reading this have an answer to generic USB device support? Seems a little silly to ship a 20k computer with front-side USB ports that patently can't be used...
