Unable to access my CIFS server from windows XP machine

Hi Expert,
I have just configure an CIFS server on HPUX 11iV3 machine. I have share a directory and all seems fine.
Now when I try to access my cifs server from my windows XP machine i get an error, telling me that my CIFS server is not accessible and may be I have not the correct permission to access to the CIFS. however I can ping CIFS server.
I don't know what to do now.
Any idea is well came.
Thx in advance

Hi Richard

CIFS is to map windows shares in unix

SAMBA is to map Unix shares in windows.
To acess samba configuration go to http://name_of_your_server:901

I think you are confuse in the concepts ??

Configured _how_, exactly?

There may be more than one version of this
product. Which one are you using?

uname -a

As usual, showing actual commands and/or
configuration files can be more helpful than
vague descriptions and interpretations. It's
nice that you believe that everything is
fine, but my psychic powers are too weak to
tell me _why_ you believe this, or what,
exactly, you think that "all" is.

What, exactly, is the error message?

Hi Richard,

Nightwich tried to clear your confusion.
If you want to access UNIX resource from windows side you need to configure SAMBA server. check out below link

For vice versa you may take the help from below link-
