Unable to read from /var/adm/userdb/44 during 11.23 to 11.31 upgrade on PA-RISC

Hi All!

I am upgrading my PA-RISC server network partition from 11.23 to 11.31 using March 2010's  3 set DVDs. Process ran fine when I did::

# update-ux  -v -p -s /cdrom  HPUX11i-VSE-OE, all ran fine. update-ux.log and swm.log did not report any errors.

1) I was logged in as root via ssh (no su)

2) This is not a secure server and password is simple

3) Then, ran "update-ux  -v -s /cdrom HPUX11i-VSE-OE"

4) I am getting the following message -->

Use " /usr/sbin/mk_kernel -s /stand/system " to build the new kernel

* Running "postinstall" script for product "VRTSvxvm".

Jul 23 19:05:00 rookie syslog: USERDB: Unable to read from /var/adm/userdb/44. Run userdbck.

Jul 23 19:05:26 rookie  above message repeats 20 times Jul 23 19:06:00 rookie syslog: USERDB: Unable to read from /var/adm/userdb/44. Run userdbck.

5) /var/adm/userdb directory does not exist

Any ideas to help resolve this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Unable to read from /var/adm/userdb/44 during 11.23 to 11.31 upgrade on PA-RISC

It was a bad set of core OS installation DVDs (March 2010).  I used Sept 2011 DVDs and all worked fine.

Thanks
