Unable to set the lan card to 1000Mbps

Hi all,

I have one rp4440 with HP-UX 11.11 installed. I have 3 numbers PCI/PCI-X 1000Base-T Dual-port Core card on this server. Yesterday we have set 1000Mbps/Autonegotiatio=on from Switch side. Now from my server side only one card is communicating with 1000Mbps.I already set autonegotiation to ON from server side. When I set back the other 2 cards to 100Mbps, the cards are getting communiocating. Kindly advice me how I can make the cards to communicate in 1000Mbps.. I have attached the lan card settings also.

Thanks in advance,
Vinu

Re: Unable to set the lan card to 1000Mbps

Shalom,

lanadmin

Lets really check connection speed.

There are two factors involved here which you have already checked.

Port configuration and configuration on the system. The system configuration must be auto negotiate on these cards.

The next step is to check system patching. The latest bi-annual patch set may assist in correcting this problem.

Do not change hpbtlanconf in /etc/rc.config.d this will not help with true 1000 BaseT cards.

ioscan.
Is the card certified for this system on http://docs.hp.com and http://partsurfer.hp.com

Re: Unable to set the lan card to 1000Mbps

Hi Vinu,

There are three things you need to check.

1. Lan card should support. In your case it's 1000Mbps card.

2. Cable should support. Not all the cables supports 1000Mbps. Check the cable if it is capable of 1000Mbps communication

3.Switch should support.

If all three things are ok then it should work.

Also provide if you get any error while you are changing the speed using lanadmin command or through SAM.
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Unable to set the lan card to 1000Mbps

For Gigabit networking you must have both the switch port and the NIC set to AUTONEGOTIATE.

Re: Unable to set the lan card to 1000Mbps

Hi,

You can also try to put switch port config on 1000Mbps full duplex and lan card to 1000Mbps auto negotiation.

=>Also try to upgrade lan driver with latest one
