Is it possible to unmap a lun from Storage without exporting "vg" .
We have unmounted file-system , de-activated vg.

Re: Unmap lun without exporting vg
What is the goal?
exporting VG means delete the vg related information, but not touching the vg data itself.
by only deactivating, the system will remember the vg (and maybe complain about it is missing).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Unmap lun without exporting vg
vgreduce will remove physical volumes (PV) from an LVM volume group. A physical volume (PV) can be a LUN from shared storage (e.g. your 3PAR array) or a physical disk within the host.

SolutionHi Torsten,
We wanted to run promotesv in 3par which needed luns to be exported i.e unmapped from 3par storage.
Then after promotesv new luns were getting detected , so we hada to trace all luns and do vgimport manually or keep a record of all luns and assign the same lun-id .
But we have found that now promotesv is online for which we need to upgrade our firmware.
