Upgrade an RP5450 to faster processors.

We are planning to upgrade one of our RP5450's from 440Mhz processors to 550/540Mhz processors. We have the correct system board and PDC and dip switch settings. We are running HP-UX 11.11 with hardware enablement patch 11.11.0509 (September 2005). Do we need to apply any patches or do anything to the kernel to make this work?

Thanks,

Bob

Re: Upgrade an RP5450 to faster processors.

As long as you have your bases covered with the dip switch settings, PDC version and system board version, you should be OK.

There are no changes that need to be made at the HP-UX level.

Patrick,
Thanks! I should be doing the upgrade in the next 2 days so I'll update on the results.

Not needed for this upgrade, but you should consider to patch your system to a current level.
Patches from 2005 are really old nowadays ...

Hope this helps!

Shalom,

This plan will work.

You will definitely wish to make sure the firmware is up to date.

Being two years behind on patches is a bad idea.

There is a conversion to Itanium available for these boxes but that would require a reinstall of the OS to 11.23 or 11.31

Re: Upgrade an RP5450 to faster processors.

Success! I replaced all 4 processors with 540/550Mhz processors. The only thing I had to change was the dip switch settings. Thanks to all for your assistance.
