Upgrade from the Tru64 unix 4.0f to 5.1B

according with the documentation in the link

If I have an OS version 4.0f and want be in 5.1B is necessary upgrade to 4.0g after version 5.1 and after 5.1B , is that correct or I have understand bad .

According to the 5.1B installation guide:

4.0F -> 4.0G
4.0F Rev 1229 -> 5.0A

4.0G -> 5.1
5.0A -> 5.1

5.1 -> 5.1A

5.1A -> 5.1B

Yes, it's correct, probably your best option is to do a fresh install. Most configuration files are compatible, including enhanced security database to restore user accounts.

And also, if you fresh intall instead of upgrade, you will have the new advfs file system version, which has improvements.
