Hello,

yes, this is supported. For restrictions, see this guide:

Now I am looking into the guide and it looks like that DRD-safe version of update-ux only supports updates from HPUX 11iv3 older releases to 11iv3 release 4.

You must download the latest web release of DRD for 11.23 to be able to do this, and you can ONLY update to 11.31 March 2009 (0903) Update 4
You swinstall the new update-ux from the 11.31 media before trying to do the update.

Re: Using DRD to Upgrade from 11.23 to 11.31 ?

I walked down the hall and came back with this:

This reply is from the DRD team - Although we don't support updates from 11.23 to 11.31, we do encourage you to use a DRD clone as your backup while you update your active system. We currently support updates from LR, 0709, 0803 and 0809 to 11.31 0903. Refer to the document referenced above and also the www.hp.com/go/tov3 website that has tips on how to do the update effectively.

Thanks,

Re: Using DRD to Upgrade from 11.23 to 11.31 ?

hmm, I may have not been very clear on my origional response.

Create a clone of the original system image 11iv2), optionally run update-ux in preview mode on the active disk.
Adjust file system sizes on the clone as needed, remembering that /stand needs to be around 1.8GB. (check the http://docs.hp.com/en/DRD link for a White paper)
Activate the clone & boot when ready, then update the active image to HP-UX 11i v3 0903.
When update completes, you will have an active image with 11i v3 0903, and a clone with 11i v2.
