VAS client authentication software

Hi all,

We are using Quest Software VAS on HP-UX for centralized authentication for Servers.

Each HP-UX Servers runs VAS client software.
Our servers are also populated with few users and groups info in passwd and groups files.

Can someone explain how VAS works with passwd and groups file on each servers ?
