Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
need to add 5 more vdisks from the EVA, and Extend the VG, Mirror LV.
------------------------------>
login in EVA command view and create a virtual disk of required size and present it to the particular host ..
You can select the respective group and raid while creating vdisk.
use evainfo tool to to find the cxtydz
./evainfo -w wwnno
if it is v3 use persistent device file, to find persistent files
use ioscan -m dsf cxtydz
------------------------
i need to do a lvsplit, and mount the 2nd mirror copy on a different mount point
y it is required ????? any reason
-----------------------------
pvcreate /dev/rdsk/diskxxx.
vgextend vgname /dev/dsk/diskxxx
lvextend -l [pe size] /dev/vgname/lvname
fsadm -F vxfs -b size /mountpoint.
if its under cluster do vgexport
vgexport -p -s -v -m vgname.map vgname
then do vgimport of that map file to fail over system.
in fail over system
vgimport -s -v -N -m [pathof map file ] vgname.

Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
pvcreate /dev/rdsk/diskxxx.
vgextend vgname /dev/dsk/diskxxx or vgextend -g pvg0 vgname /dev/dsk/diskxxx
lvchange ├в D n ├в s n /dev/vgxxx/lvxxx
lvextend -m 1 /dev/vgname/lvname /dev/dsk/diskxxx
lvsplit /dev/vgname/lvname
mount /dev/vgname/lvname /newpoint name
I will have to do lvgchange -D n -S n because of the Allocation PVG-strict/distributed policy.
please advice

Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
vgextend -g PVG 1
Then mirror it with respect to the PVG
lvextend -m 1
Why you want to change the policy ? You don't required PVG at all ?
( I am not knowing what's your exact requirement ).

Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
So you need to adjust the PVG file (/etc/lvmpvg), them pvcreate the disks, vgextend and mirror to the second physical volume group.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
I have managed to sync some vg's. but i had a hitch last night.
when the mirroring was going on vgdata02, there was a power failure in the data center, the storage started acting funny after that..
i had to remove the 4 vdisks from the eva which were presented to this vgdata02.
my vgdata02 is online, but the lv is showing stale.
i need to remove those old drive paths, i will rsync again later on.
will the below command work:
lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vgdata02/lvdata02 /dev/dsk/cxtxd1 /dev/dsk/cxtxd2 /dev/dsk/cxtxd3 /dev/dsk/cxtxd4
please let me know.
cheers

Re: VGEXTEND - WITH PVG "URGENT"
lvdisplay
If it is showing 1, then you can simply do lvsync to synchronize it.
lvsync -T
