Try vgexport in preview mode, e.g.

# vgexport -p -v -s -m /tmp/vgXX.map vgXX

Gany,

Check this out:
# xd -An -j8200 -N16 -tx /dev/rdsk/cxtxdx

3rd +4rth field = VGID . 1+2=PVID 3=CPUID.

[ Where /dev/rdsk/cxtxdx is the PV of the VG ]


You can also get the VGID when you take a map file backup using vgimport with -s option.
