VPN Connectivity
What is the procedure of VPN connectivity of an HP-UX box? Which port I have to enable in a setup where other (non HP ) boxes are connected properly.

Re: VPN Connectivity
what do u want exactly do?
If you want to connect your hp-ux boxes, you need VPN setup in your network.
Better to contact with Network team, generally who are responsible to do VPN connectivity configuration.
Once you get connected through VPN, then you are connected to your network where hp-ux boxes are reside. then you do connect as usual that you are in your environment present.

Re: VPN Connectivity
VPN is not related with HP-UX in any terms.
It is to create a highly secured private connection between two networks.
For example, you have a data center at some place and want to connect to the datacenter from your laptop at home. Since you are going through internet you will be using VPN to establish a secure connection from your laptop to datacenter. VPN is combination of it's own hardware and software.

Re: VPN Connectivity
Commonly a windows or Linux client needs connectivity to the network.
VPN is established via hardware and software combination.
Once connected the client can reach any HP-UX system the VPN permits.
The HP-UX system need merely be on the right network.
Nothing to do to the HP-UX system.
Do some VPN providers have HP-UX clients and the ability to set up a VPN say between two HP-UX systems. Yes, I've heard of such setups. Mostly however VPN is done as described above.

Re: VPN Connectivity
I think what you are asking here what you need to do to access a specific HP-UX box in your internal network via VPN.
The answer is you don't need to do anything on the HP-UX box itself. You have to speak to your VPN administrator to allow connectivity to the HP-UX box in the VPN hardware/software configuration. This access is controlled with IP and/or port numbers. For example if you want to telnet to the HP-UX box via VPN, you have to allow in the VPN settings the IP address of the HP-UX box and the telent service (port 23). Again all this setup is on the VPN hardware/software.
