Re: Vg00 construction.

1. Increase either max_pe or pe_size (see man vgcreate). Of course this needs to be done at creation time.

2. lvcreate is the command, simply change the lvol name and specify an appropriate size.

Hi:

My advice is do _NOT_ do this. If you keep vg00 confined to the standard logical volumes your abilities to clone and/or recover vg00 are greatly enhanced. Disk is cheap and a clean segregation of operating system and application data is very desirable.

Re: Vg00 construction.

Hi Pete,

"Increase either max_pe or pe_size (see man vgcreate).

"Of course this needs to be done at creation time"

I think it can be changed later also using vgmodify comamnd ( 11.23 and 31)

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60130/vgmodify.1M.html

I dont know if I am wrong.

Re: Vg00 construction.

Hi Fizan,

If you want to create new logical volumes,
avoid creating it in vg00. I would suggest you to create a new VG.

Always recommeneded.

Re: Vg00 construction.

This is a version 1.0 VG with hp-ux 11.31.

VG Max Size = VG Max Extents * PE Size

VG Max Extents = Max PE per PV * Max PV

The PE size is set during creation, but Max PE per PV can be adjusted with vgmodify.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Vg00 construction.

VG Max Size 2229760m
VG Max Extents 69680

how to increase this both parameters, wherther it will automatically increase or we need to specify with vgcreate commnd?

Re: Vg00 construction.

Hi Fizan,

Can you please confirm, do you want to change an existing VG ? or are you going to create a new VG?

I recommend you to create a new VG and give the parameters accordingly if required.
