Vmware is not booting

While booting up the VMware server it is giving "Mounting root failed"
Would you please suggest some step to troubleshoot the same.

Hardware: BL460

Eric,

>Mounting root failed"

"Mounting root failed" : means root filesystem was unable to mpount

- More info required here:
uname -a # if you have.
- what happened since last time it was working fine.
- any chages done before reboot.

Action can be taken:
- interupt at grub loader:
- A to append to boot string:
- add s at the end to boot with single user mode:
- Once booted verify /etc/fstab and other boot logical volumes if any thing wrong.
- If you find something wrong, fix the entry and reboot, that should fix the problem.

Re: Vmware is not booting

What OS is hosting your VMware Server? Or are you using ESX or ESXi?
