Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
on a HP C3600/ HPUX 11.11 are the "X settings" changed. I get some errors:
When i start the for example xterm, then
Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue".
And when i call the graphdiag, then
Error
Error
I think, that are 2 independent errors. Or?
Have you an idea, which setting are changed ?
Thanks Kati

Re: Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
The OpenGL failure may be related to the same change. I would expect OpenGL to require a large number of colours for shading and 3D modelling operations.
Use SAM to check your display and monitor settings.

Re: Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
I have seen similar errors occur when the X configuration files are have incorrect ownership and permissions.
The messages are related.
I would check configuration of a working system and see what the differences are. The diff command is good for comparing two configuration files.

Re: Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
HP Visualize 1280x1024 75 HZ 10x20 VESA, Double-buffer
Default Visual: Overlay, Depth 8, Pseudo Color
max. Nr. of File Desc. =192
Graphics Shared Memory Size=0x580000
Shared Memory Transport Size= Disable
Cursor Scale Factor=1
I think that is okay.
I have the feeling, which in the background a process the whole color takes off.
But i can not find this process.
I have checked the ownership and permission of X configuration files and
are the same as a other working system.

Re: Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
For good viewing of photo-like images and OpenGL work, you'll want Depth 24 (or 32) and True Color.

Re: Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "skyblue"
i have only 3 possibility:
Overlay , Depth 8, PseudoColor
Image , Depth 8, PseudoColor
and
Image , Depth 8, TrueColor.
When i change to Image , Depth 8, TrueColor
i have no postitive effects in my applications .
Modify Default Depth is greying out on sam.
