Warning: couldn't query physical volume

I have the problem.
I reignited the box from make_net_recovery and it did not work, then I rebooted my box and boot it off the second disk that was mirrored beofre, so the server comes up OK, but now when I do vgdisplay -v vg00 - it is saying:
vgdisplay: Warning: couldn't query physical volume "/dev/dsk/c2t1d0":
The specified path does not correspond to physical volume attached to
this volume group

How can I fiix it, I see that diskc2t1d0 in lvmtab

Re: Warning: couldn't query physical volume

I believe that 'vgreduce -f' should solve your issue. See the thread below for some more information:

>>couldn't query physical volume "/dev/dsk/c2t1d0

this is a common lvm error which we may get when device files gets mixed up a bit.

But needs to know what you did first ,was there a bad primary disk ,so you ignited the box which doesn`t went well.

Does vgscan -a -v -p ( preview ) shows the vg00disks.

post vgscan -a -v -p output for this.

Thanks

Re: Warning: couldn't query physical volume

Hi!

There are two things you have to do.

If the system is already up:

1. break the mirror or try and sync it
if he does not sync, just break the mirror
2. attach new disk
3.mirror disk.

But before all of this, you need to run :
1. ioscan to check if the disk is good or bad
2. vgdisplay -v /dev/vg00
3. check is Act PV is equal to Cur PV

Re: Warning: couldn't query physical volume

You did a new installation on the first disk and now you booted from the second?

After this ignite restore the disks are no longer mirrored, so you boot the "old" OS from the second disk, this does not match the other disk.

Boot your first disk and mirror it again.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Warning: couldn't query physical volume

Hi,

Looks like you are in presence a "ghost disk" or "phantom disk". Please check this essential document at Chapter 5 (Removing the Disk):
