I have a lot of warning messages on syslog.log
This is the warning:
vmunix: WARNING: VxVM vxio V-5-0-23 Open on an spurious volume device (0x68009470) encountered. This device may be valid, but has not
yet been configured in the kernel
My system configuration
OS HP-UX 11.23 Ia 64 Bit
Patch Dec2008
SG Ext For RAC 11.18
All disks are managed with lvm.
Any suggestion? Thacks

Re: Warning messages at syslog" vmunix: WARNING: VxVM vxio V-5-0-23"
this server using as NIS client?
we have similar thread which resolve through below steps,
Thanks lot for support.
I found the issue and fixed now. Done following >>>>
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.server stop
# /sbin/init.d/autofs stop
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.client stop
# /sbin/init.d/lockmgr stop
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.core stop
Then rebuild your /stand/ioconfig file by issuing the command:
# insf -e
Then see if you can get all the RPC daemons to start normally:
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.core start
# /sbin/init.d/lockmgr start
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.client start
# /sbin/init.d/autofs start
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start
#/sbin/init.d/nis.client start
also please go through thread here, thanks,

No I don't use NIS on my server, more all rpc nfs services are closed for safety motives.
Thanks

Re: Warning messages at syslog" vmunix: WARNING: VxVM vxio V-5-0-23"
Looks at the releases notes
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6386/5991-6386.pdf
the workaround is known ;)
"This message can be ignored. Once the disk group has been imported successfully, there
should be no problem in accessing its volumes."

Re: Warning messages at syslog" vmunix: WARNING: VxVM vxio V-5-0-23"
I have read the release notes, however I don't understand why the doc write this:
"A message such as the following is displayed if an attempt is made to open a volume at boot
time before any disk group has been imported"
On my server there are no dg veritas.
I excecute "vxdg list" the output it's null.
But Veritas Volume manager it's installed, could be this the problem?
Thanks

I don't think it's the true solution.
