Re: What are the prerequisites to make RSYNC work ?
Hi Matti ,
My exp with rsync is really bad.
I tried to sync one filesystem from one to another ( DC to DR ) ;
what happened was files got corrupted at other end , that was verified by making application up at that end.
Later when we came back to our dc site all was fine.
We suspect rsync could have caused this.

Re: What are the prerequisites to make RSYNC work ?
Rsync has a pretty long history. If your bad experience was with a very old version of rsync, it's probably not relevant with modern versions.
Rsync is also very widely used for establishing and syncing mirror servers for Linux distributions and other free software - if it had a persistent file corruption issue, it would have been widely known by now. Without any more details, you are just spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt).

Re: What are the prerequisites to make RSYNC work ?
Hi Matti ,
Well it was just one of those experiences that i had with rsync.
Maybe our application team wanted to put blame on us :-) .
