What is the best way to fix a corrupt fileset?

I am upgrading HP-UX 11.11 on one of our servers to the latest GOLDQPK, but this has failed with the message:

ERROR: The patch fileset "PHSS_36011.ARM,r=1.0" may only be installed
upon a previously installed base fileset. The specification
for this base fileset is
"MeasurementInt.ARM,l=/opt/perf,r=C.04.50.00". Since fileset
"MeasurementInt.ARM,l=/opt/perf,r=C.04.50.00" is not an
"installed" or "configured" state fileset,
"PHSS_36011.ARM,r=1.0" will be excluded.

It would appear that this error has come up on previous upgrades and been circumvented, by getting swinstall to ignore this dependency.

The swlist program indicates that the status of this fileset is "corrupt". What is the best way around this? I tried a swremove with the preview option, but this fails. Can one fix the problem by running swinstall to reinstall the corrupt fileset (and not remove it first)?

It depends. I don't think there is any best or supported way, except re-ignite your system.
(Perhaps Bob has some better suggestions?)

For MeasurementInt.ARM, I don't see any kernel contributions.

You can try. It would probably good to make an ignite backup first.

Have you tried swremoving the other filesets?
MeasurementInt.MI & MeasurementInt.MI-JPN

Otherwise you can use swmodify to wave bye-bye for the whole product and reinstall.

There are some control scripts, not sure if you should try to execute them manually:
swlist -l control_file MeasurementInt

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the help. I did a swremove and was able to remove the Glance filesets without any problems. At the same time the MeasurementInt filesets were also removed.

There goes our problem. Thanks for the help.

Fixed by remove of glance filesets, not just the corrupt MeasurementInt fileset. Presumably, due to dependencies.
