What is vg04?

Hello All,

I have a cluster environment with 2 rx2660 & MSA 1000. In active node, the vg's are vg00, vg01, vg02. But System managment homepage shows another vg, vg04? I wanna know, what it is? Please find the attachement for more clarification?

Re: What is vg04?

Check if the VG is listed:

# strings /etc/lvmtab

most likely it belongs to the other node.

Check

# vgdisplay -v vg04

from the other node.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: What is vg04?

Please attach this too:

# ll /etc/lvmconf

BTW, not related to this problem, but may cause other problems:

I think your MSA is presenting the LUNs in a wrong mode (not hpux, but default or windows - please check!)!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: What is vg04?

this may be another file system or may be package file system structure. anything could be possible.

If you want to know if it is belongs to cluster then check the cluster config ascii file.

or may be it contains file system which system admins doesn't want to activate during boot. for more confirmation check in /etc/fstab

Re: What is vg04?

As said earlier, do the same check from the other node too.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Solution

Re: What is vg04?

Hi

This is a VG that the /etc/lvmtab shows that.
more than that can u tell about these also doing that on both the nodes.
bdf
vgcfgrestore -l -n /dev/vg04
cat /etc/fstab
swapinfo -tam
for all the package configuration files in /etc/cmsluster//.cntl.log do a grep vg04 for the VG Name so that you can make sure that the VG is activated by some package.

please do all above on both the cluster nodes, that shall help know if that VG is configured in Package and or for swap.
