Will Debian 7.8.0 work for HP DL380 G9

Dear All,

    I like to know if Debian 7.8.0 Works for HP DL380 G9 x Intel Xeon E5-2690v3 (2.6GHz/12-core/30MB/135W)
Processors
384GB Dual Rank x4 DDR4-2133 CAS-15-15-15 Registered
Memory
HP Smart Array P440ar/2GB FBWC 12Gb 2-ports Int FIO
SAS Controller
HP 96W Mega cell Battery 145mm Cable

The earliest supported version of Ubuntu on Gen9 ProLiant is 14.04 LTS which I think is based on Debian 8 (Jessie)

   Thank you for replying , I have another question regarding this product.

 

Is HP Smart array is optional on this server can we directly connect HDD directly on the SAS controllers on the server motherboard.

The entry level model ships with a B140i Dynamic Raid Controller and only support SATA drives. For SAS you will need to add one of the optional controllers

 

Look at page 33 of the Quickspecs for a list of optional controllers that support SAS
