Will creating new hard partition reboot a server?

They added a cell board to an rp7410 and I'm planning to run parmgr from my existintg hard partition to configure it. The new cell board will become a new, seperate 4 cpu server. Will this cause my pimary hard partion to be rebooted? The primary is already configured, is in use and I'd like to avoid a reboot. Otherwise I'll wait until after hours.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Will creating new hard partition reboot a server?

Jim
This should work without rebooting the existing npar.
If you specify for Partition Manager to automatically boot the new
nPartition, you can access the new nPartition├в s BCH interface from its
console when you finish using the create partition task wizard.
Otherwise, if you do not specify to automatically boot the new nPartition,
you must use the service processor Command menu├в s BO command to
boot the nPartition past boot-is-blocked (inactive, ready for reconfig
state) and make its BCH interface available.

Hi james..

This will not cause a prmary partition to go down.

Hi Jim,

The Reboot is NOT required.

You can proceed creating the next nPAR from the existing partion using
#parcreate or #parmgr.

access MP and use
MP>BO ---> and choose the NEW partition

once it is booted

MP>CO ---> and select the nEW nPAR
to get the BCH of the new nPAR

now you can proceed with the OS installation etc.

Siva.
