Windows Identity Management for Windows questions

A team is implementing this product at work.

We have installed the LDAP product on the UNIX boxes, and the Windows team is now installing the product on their AD server.

During the install on the Windows AD server, it provides buttons to select these three options:
1. Administration Components
2. Password Synchronization
3. Server for NIS

Question 1: Is number 3 above necessary to select if the UNIX systems are not running NIS?

I've read various threads and links on the ITRC forum, but I don't see an answer to this. Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows Identity Management for Windows questions

Shalom,

No Mike, step three is not needed if you don't use NIS.

You may find you need to use NIS to work with single sign on products like Centrify.
