X with no gfx card ?
Do X clients software exists on NT for accessing an X server running on a
HP-9000 server ?
And... Bad question : If there are X clients on PCs, can the X server (on the
HP9000) run with no graphics board on the server ???? (I guess it will not
possible, but who knows...?)

Re: X with no gfx card ?
X will work with no graphic card on the system - I've got an 817 at HP-UX 11
running CDE that I can pull up a desktop on a PC with.
You'll need to load the X Server software (X11, Xserver products) and some kind
of XDMCP window manager to accept requests from remote clients (CDE, for
example). Both of these software products should be on the Core/OS media.

Re: X with no gfx card ?
I confirm what Evan just wrote, but as prerequisite you will need a good X
emulation software for you NT station, and if you are on a different network,
be sure the ports 6000 arent filtered by networks administrators (it happened
to me...)

Re: X with no gfx card ?
Both previous comments are correct :
The contolling factor other than the lack of graphics h/w controlling if a
bitmapped display can start on S800 systems is a flag set in
:/usr/dt/config/Xservers(if CDE installed, otherwise consult local window
manager documentation),
If the "Locale local@console ..." line is commented out, no local Xserver or
window manager are started, a window manager program eg dtlogin will run, but
will be monitoring for XDMCP requests from clients wishing to run remote
clients eg PC'using X-emulation & Xterminals hence the need for port 6000.
The CDE or VUE runtme enviroments (core O/S CD) contain all the X component's
you'll need, and Exceed and ReflectionsX PC emulation products seem extremely
good, Exceeds 6.2 having a lot of useful enhancements in it's latest release.
FYI the most common problem I find is fonts wrt CDE, to resolve most issues
simply setup a font-server on the hp box & point the PC "X" S/W to use it (port
7000 usually) : see man xfs.
