X11 autostart

How do I enable an 11.11 or 11.23 server to autostart the Xserver? I can start it manually (/usr/bin//X11/X :5 -ac -fbdir /var/X11/Xserver), but would like to have it start on boot. The mwm and xvfb files in rc.config.d are both set for a vlaue of '1' to startup, but yet the Xserver does not autostart.

Unless you have a custom script at your site there is no mwm/xvfb settings in any of the files in /etc/rc.config.d. The Xserver is enabled in /etc/rc.config.d/desktop and started by /sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc (pointed to by /sbin/rc3.d/S990dtlogin.rc)

/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

and reboot.

Problem turned out to be on the client side.
