Xwindow not working?

my problem is streighy forward?
my defalult runlevel is 5 .ie x window but when i starts my laptop ,now i gets only red screen , not even grub loader to select the os and kernel. i commented splash image line from grub.conf . now i gets boot options and then after booting i gets again red screen with fipflop.. is the x window server currepted and how can i repair it... pls help stepwise

hi,

go to runlevel 3 and try to setup the Xserver again.
