allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

hi

i have a quick VA issue, i have created a couple of luns to be used to increase the size of a volume group, and would like to know how to present the lun to the server and get the server to see the rdsk and the dsk device files.

Also we use the cvsdm from one server and i want to present the luns to another server attached to the array

any help would be much appreciated

Re: allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

If you have secure manager in use, you need to create the LUN, adjust and activate secure manager table to present them, run "ioscan" and "insf -e [-Cdisk]" to create the device files.

Check with

# armtopology

see man page for armtopology and armsecure if needed.

Hope this helps!

i can now see the disk once i have done the ioscan and insf, however the disk has appeared on the server that has cvsdm running on it, is there anyway of getting this to appear on a different server, that the array is attached to

Re: allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

As said before - need to adjust the secure manager table, example to read it:

# armsecure ├в r ├в f lun_security.txt -p AUTORAID

Hope this helps!

Re: allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

thanks for all the help, i have managed to extend the necessary VG, and sort out the WWN issues, one final question, all the other LUNS in the volume group have alternate paths, my new disk doesnt appear to have that, do i need to do something else to get this to work

Re: allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

You need to configure both server HBA WWNs into the secure manager table, did you do this?

After doing this, do ioscan, insf again.

Hope this helps!

Re: allocation LUN to server to be used in LVM

Do you see other pathes to the VA over this HBA? If not, the issue could be related to zoning on switches.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
